End of an era - goodbye Sultan

Sultan, mum’s 16 and a half year old Tervuren Belgian Shepherd dog, pictured on this website, was sadly put to sleep today (Tuesday 28th July 2009).

With a ‘celebrity’ for a mum and sister, who both, consecutively, played Wellard in Eastenders, Sultan chose a very quiet, peaceful life. He was one of life’s lucky dogs who was walked twice a day, everyday, come rain or shine, was fed well, and surrounded by love.

His greatest achievement was coming overal first in obedience at the Royal Cornwall Show one year when he was five. The show is the county’s main agricultural event so needless to say we were all very proud of him. I actually think mum was more surprised at the time than proud!!

My ‘best’ memory of Sultan was coming home from college to find mum desperately pushing the stuffing back in to the arms of the sofa and covering with throws, before dad got home from work. Somehow mum was convinced dad wouldn’t notice half of the sofa destroyed and hidden underneath throws!! At the time it probably wasn’t very funny but looking back it certainly is now.

Of all the things Sultan was a loyal, handsome, loving family dog whom mum devoted the past 16 and a half years to.

Sultan: 21st February 1993 to 28th July 2009. Bless him, he will be missed.
